dees4boys Do you have any tips for using the phrase cafe stickers and the tag types?
Lisa_dePaula Hi everyone!
dees4boys Do you have any tips for using the phrase cafe stickers and the tag types?
Lisa_dePaula Yes I do! Keep a pair of Tweezer Bee tweezers handy so you don't get fingerprints on the stickers. Because they are usually a clear material the fingerprints show through. Also, the funnest thing I've done Tag Types is to cut them into squares -- gives it a neat look.

dees4boys Do you have any plans on a book of phrases?
Lisa_dePaula I've thought of doing this....but there are so many other great books just listing phrases. Crystal Perry with the Write Words has some great books out that list a ton of titles and phrases

Laura Hi!!!
moderator
dees4boys I will have my tweezers near by. I never thought about cutting the the Tag Types into squares. Thanks for the tips and idea.
Lisa_dePaula Another tip I have to add is to use the Honey Bee scissors because of the non-stick coating they won't stick to your stickers -- don't you just hate that? (Plus, those Honey Bee scissors are the best to cut ribbon and fibers too.
scrapper4life I love your Color Oasis line!! It's the best! Any plans for a line extension?
Lisa_dePaula Oh I'm so glad you like Color Oasis! And yes...we are always working on new designs. It's just a matter of getting them "perfect". Do you have a favorite family in that line? (Look, I'm asking the questions!)
............................ kalli left.............
scrapper4life that's ok...hmmm...let's see. maybe napa valley, although malibu always puts me in a good mood!
moderator
dees4boys I think that I will invest in the Honey Bee combo set of the tweezers and scissors.
moderator
Laura Lisa, what was the inspiration for the names on the color oasis line, I just love the themes.
Lisa_dePaula Oh this is a funny answer! I happen to love Pepperidge Farm cookies and have you ever noticed how them name the cookies after places? Well, that got me thinking that it was so easy to remember a "place" than a color name so we searched for places that sounded pretty and had nice memories associated with them. So, next time you eat a Milano cookie just think of Color Oasis *smiles*
Lisa_dePaula Gee I must be too excited because I'm reading my messages and seeing all the typos and I'm quite embarrased...I think I better slow down a bit *smiles*

scrapper4life oh dont' worry about it. i don't think i ever care about mistakes when I talk online.
moderator
Mary_Lou Lisa do you have anything new coming out soon?
Lisa_dePaula yes....and the hardest thing in the world is keeping it secret until it comes. I joke that it's kinda like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory how everything has to be kept so secret *smiles* But that makes it more fun doesn't it? Sometimes describing things don't do it justice....you have to "see" it to appreciate it.
scrapper4life By the way, GREAT job on the mini phrase cafes! i use them to highlight words in my journaling and also on cards
Lisa_dePaula I'm so glad you like the mini phrase cafe! I think they are especially great for card making or small albums. I was working on a 6x6 album when I discovered that many of the regular sized Phrase Cafe were just too big.
moderator We are debuting Lisa's newest lines next week on our website - Tiny Tag Types and Stickersaurus (definition stickers)!
Laura I really like the Malibu, it is so brigtht and fun, and the thoughts are the best. I have used the Malilbu stuff a lot for cards i send to my friends to say hi by snail mail.
Lisa_dePaula Malibu and South Beach are probably my favorites -- there's just something so "happy" about them...and I'm usually scrapbooking happy things so it just falls into place more for me.
............................ kalli joined.............
dees4boys Can we expect to see more phrase cafe stickers? I just cannot get enough. I am gald that they were made in the mini size which is great for cardmaking.
Lisa_dePaula Stickersaurus is very similar to Phrase Cafe -- but these are definitions in a Phrase Cafe style. You'll see them on this website shortly if your local store doesn't have them yet -- and we've sent in some great page layouts showing different uses for them so check out the project ideas too.
dees4boys When can we expect to see the new item(s) ? Can you at least give us a hint?
moderator Yes, check next week for the Tag Types and Stickersaurus.!

Mary_Lou I have 3 kids... I don't know how to find the time and organize myself! Any suggestions?
Lisa_dePaula Find time? Gee that's a hard one! I have four children and the sacrifice I've had to make is to leave the dishes in the sink and sit down on my scrapbook table and just create one page. If I plan it so I'm only creating ONE page -- I won't hurry myself too much. And as far as organizing....I'm a Virgo so that's just part of the package *smiles*. The sad thing is to spend more time organizing than actually scrapbooking -- so, leave your stickers in a pile and just create a page...you'll be happier. Oh...one thing that I just LOVE is to put anything that can fit on a RING on a ring. All of my stickers are on rings!
Mary_Lou On rings - that's so smart ! Thanks
moderator
scrapper4life What inspired you to choose the colors you did for the Color Oasis line?
Lisa_dePaula In most cases...I decided on a "name" (actually a place right?) and then searched for colors that applied to that place. I have a wonderful graphic designer who works for me who is awesome at picking colors and I have to give her most of the credit for the color selections *smiles*
Laura TIny Tag Types! that is great! Are they really small so I can easily fit them on my 6 x 6 layouts? are they small enough for card making?
Lisa_dePaula I am so in love with the Tiny Tag Types I have to remember not to neglect my regular sized Tag Types *smiles*. Like you said, it's easier to fit them on a small page or a card. I taught a class with the regular sized Tag Types and everyone was supposed to write out thier name on the front of a card...well, that wasn't possible for some folks with long names so Tiny Tag Types was born!
deedeedesigns I find that I cut apart many of the phrases from the cafe line -- any suggestions on how to organize all those bits and pieces -- my sticker drawer gets to be a jumble!
Lisa_dePaula I do that too! I have little tin cans (AOL CD holders actually) that I put my little pieces in. A friend of mine puts them in envelopes and sorts them by theme that way. And then I have my 7 year old who thinks my scraps are worth their weight in gold *smiles*
scrapper4life Is it the same colors as the original Tag Types?
Lisa_dePaula The original Tag Types had 12 colors/styles and the Tiny Tag Types have 18. And if you look closely at the Tiny Tag Types you'll find colors that match the Color Oasis stories perfectly *smiles*
scrapper4life Oh that's neat!
moderator
Mary_Lou Going to the scrapbook store is so overwhelming? Can you recommend what I "can't live" without?
Lisa_dePaula Oh I hear you! That depends on if you are a person who likes pre-made things or time-savers or if you like to make everything by hand and save a bit of money that way.
Mary_Lou Going to the scrapbook store is so overwhelming? Can you recommend what I "can't live" without?
Lisa_dePaula I don't think I could live without sticker letters. I don't mind my handwriting for small journaling...but I can't title a page without sticker letters *smiles*
deedeedesigns OK, any suggestions on how to work with the hole punched in tag type stickers -- sometimes I put fibers or cord through it, but other times the clean look is better -- but if working with dark paper, the hole shows through the sticker -- guess I am too picky about things like that.
Lisa_dePaula The first tip is to remember that the holes look cool if they are randomly placed like they are packaged. In other words...on the top, on the side, on the bottom, etc. But yes, sometimes you don't want the hole showing and for that I use the Medium Circle Paper Shapers punch (it's the PERFECT size -- comes in an orange case) and punch a piece of white paper to stick onto the tag, then cover it with the sticker letter....that way there's no hole to show through.
scrapper4life Have your kids inherited your creative talent?
Lisa_dePaula My seven year old gets all of my leftovers and has created some really cute things. Her dream is to be let loose in my office *smiles*. My other kids just like looking at the albums and gaa'ing and goo'ing over themselves. hehe!
............................ deedeedesigns left.............
scrapper4life brads also work great too!
moderator
Mary_Lou Oh - I'm definitely premade! I've hear d of people spending days on a layout. For me if it's not finished in 1.5 hrs it never will!
Lisa_dePaula Oh yes, I have to laugh! I like instant gratification too! I'm always jealous of the pages that must have taken hours to complete...but I have way too many pictures and not enough time so I'm looking for things to make it simple enough without looking like I slapped it together in 2 minutes. That's the biggest reason Phrase Cafe came about. I wanted great page titles without spending hours thinking about the title, designing it, printing it, etc.

deedeedesigns Lisa -- thank you so much for that perfect punch tip -- I knew you would have a good answer! I'm off to my lss for that tomorrow
Lisa_dePaula I wish they would market that punch near the Tag Types display....I'm going to have to talk to someone about that *smiles* It will be your favorite punch...or at least one of your top three!
Mary_Lou Do you ever teach at consumer shows or stores?
Lisa_dePaula yes....and I love every minute of it. I just had a baby in April so I'm not doing much traveling this year.
scrapper4life Those quotations are perfect
moderator
scrapper4life And can I just say....LOVE the phrases in the Color Oasis line.
Lisa_dePaula Great! So, one question I have for you is...do you like that they are all black and white or do you miss the color we usually use when designing? Personally, I LOVE white text because I can't do it myself on my printer *smiles*
scrapper4life Congratulations!
moderator
Laura i have piles of pictures that i want to scrap, but a lot of the occaasions would never fill a whole album, do you have any suggestions?
Lisa_dePaula I think one of the best inventions was the small album! The little 6x6 albums can be used for so many things. But, who says you have to have a whole album of one occassion? *smiles*
............................ kalli left.............
Craftergirl Hi Lisa -- I am relatively new to scrapbook products, but I am curious to know what your favorite tool is -- or do you have a product that you just can't scrap without?
Lisa_dePaula I think I would die if I didn't have my Honey Bee Scissors and my Dotto. One tip I have for creating pages is to balance the soft and shiny on a page. I find that my favorite pages have something soft and something shiny -- such as a fiber or a piece of ribbon....and a brad or an eyelet or a piece of metal.
Mary_Lou Wow Congratulations! Now I'm really impressed how you fit it all in! Do you have a tentative schedule for next year?
Lisa_dePaula The major tradeshows are the first on my list for commitments....shows like HIA, ACCI and Memory Trends. I'll also try to resume teaching at CKU and we'll see how baby does when mom's not around to determine the rest *smiles*
............................ scrapper4life left.............
Craftergirl I am glad that you guys are talking about smaller albums -- my scrapfriends are encouraging me to start this way, so I wont be too overwhelmed -- I expect to use lots of Phrase stickers in it
Lisa_dePaula Plus....you feel great when you complete an entire album -- even if it is a small album. There's just some great feeling you get when you can say it's DONE. That's something that doesn't happen very often with scrapbooking because we're always taking pictures so really we're never "done" are we? And be sure to check out the mini Phrase CAfe's....there are alot of designs created with small albums in mind...such as the All About Me strip. It will help you create the entire All About Me album with ease!

scrapper4life Well, have to go pick up the little guy from pre-school. Thanks for chatting
moderator
Craftergirl Wow, that is great -- I never thought about soft and shiny-- but that makes sense -- sorry to take up time but what is a dotto?
Lisa_dePaula It is an adhesive that used to be called Hermafix. The glue comes out as little dots on a strip and it's the best adhesive I've ever used. I don't think I could scrap without it -- well, I wouldn't be happy anyhow *smiles*
abby2 Hi Lisa!
moderator
Laura do you get a lot of inspiration from your children for your lines?
Lisa_dePaula I'm sure having four children does help to some degree -- but often times I try to think the complete opposite because if we all designed things just for moms with children what would everyone else use? Most of my inspiration comes from scrapbooking. I scrapbook regularly and I find myself "wishing" for alot of things that aren't available. I bet you do that too!
Mary_Lou Lisa - You have so many awesome ideas. Do you have any other hidden tips?
moderator FYI... EK Success is now calling the product HERMA. We have several different varieties. Check out the website under Products-Brands-HERMA!
Mary_Lou Lisa - You have so many awesome ideas. Do you have any other hidden tips?
Lisa_dePaula Yes.....I have lots of the Jolee's Photo Corners -- and they have the cutest little sticker designs attached to them. Well, I cut off the "corner" part and use the cute little sticker elsewhere. Plus...it's a great cost-saving tip since you get 12 corners on one strip and that means 12 cute little stickers to use! Check out the dragonflies...they are the cutest!
abby2 I just had my first baby 4 months ago. I've taken so many pictures (of course!) What's teh best way to scrap the pictures. By theme? By date?
Lisa_dePaula Congratulations! Yes, I know the feeling of taking lots of pictures. My suggestion is to scrap the themes. You'
Mary_Lou Thanks Lisa! I'm always looking ways to save$$

abby2 I just had my first baby 4 months ago. I've taken so many pictures (of course!) What's teh best way to scrap the pictures. By theme? By date?
Lisa_dePaula oops! Let me continue this one....... scrap the themes or you'll get too overwhelmed with trying to keep it current by date. Especially if you are taking LOTS of pictures! The dates will never end will they? Plus...it's MUCH more fun to scrap the themes and the "moments" -- and if you haven't taken baby parts pictures yet...do it before they no longer have those chubby little legs *Smiles*
Craftergirl Oh, yes -- I do know what you are talking about -- next question is for small albums -- do you have a range of sticker themes that will help me pull it all together --The All About Me sheet sounds good, as I dont have children and so many of the stickers are geared towards that.
Lisa_dePaula The All About Me theme can be expanded on so much -- you could scrapbook forever doing that! Scrapbook who you WERE and you are ARE now...and you'll be surprised at how many things you can scrapbook. My graphic designer doesn't have children and she's a busy little scrapbooker just like I am! And don't forget to scrapbook your family (Mom, Dad and other relatives) And if you have pets -- you can scrapbook alot more than you think!
abby2 I bought the baby parts sticker from the mini Phrase cafe just KNOWING that i would have to use it! For anyone who doesn't know, this sticker is the cutest!! It has a sticker that says Baby Parts, and then has stickers that say nose, eyes, etc. I love it!
moderator

Lisa_dePaula My family thought I was a nut because I'm taking pictures of my baby's nose, eyes, etc.....but when they see the completed page I know they'll gaa and goo over it like I will right? The funniest thing is the sticker word "cheek" which could have two interpertations right?

Lisa_dePaula Definitely! I've got a notebook full of words that just need to be designed

abby2 Ha ha yes for sure!
moderator
Lisa_dePaula Yes....work and play...where's the line? My mom tells her friends that I doodle for a living. *smiles*
scrapper4life I think it is a nice contrast because you can use them with any of the color stories
Lisa_dePaula Yes...that was the idea. That one sheet of sticker phrases could be used with any of the color stories and always match. Glad you noticed that!
